Bright Red
I didn't look up the name of this plant but it is growing in a neighbor's yard and looked especially nice with the backlighting. Such finds are always a bonus on my walk. The volcanic rock in the background and the dark mulch give it a nice stage to perform and it looked very happy.

Grasses

I'm even seeing more varieties of grasses. I rather liked this little guy with white at the edges of each blade of grass and a light-colored seed stalk. It looked especially nice contrasted to the darker-colored, tall grass in the background and the groomed grass in the foreground. The dark mulch makes keeping weeds at bay much easier and also provides more contrast. Who knew there were so many ornamental grasses?!

Lots of Purple
A lot of purple is beginning to appear in gardens. The bees were really involved with this plant and I hope they are able to produce a lot of honey and grow their population. We need more bees.

Daisies
Daisies are one of my favorite flowers. They always seem bright and happy. We have some blooming in our yard but they have some growing to do to become this gorgeous. (I saw these in a yard on my daily walk.) I'm glad to have any and I only have to look out the window to see their brilliance. Grow, daisies, grow.

Lilies
The lilies are in bloom and looking gorgeous. I took a photo of these near the American Legion Park in Dry Canyon. I admit I played with the photo a bit to make it a bit unusual. I was finding excuses to say inside out of the hot sun.

Misty In The Tropics
I took this photo in the Conservatory at the Denver Botanical Gardens just as a mist was being spread over the beautiful flowers. I changed the coloring in Topaz Restyle and then put an Edward Hopper effect to it in Topaz Impressions. I rather liked the end result.

Renoir
While at the Denver Botanical Garden in September I took not only photos of the Chihuly exhibit but I also shot some of the beautiful flowers. I had a new Topaz filter called "Impressions" and I put that to work. Shown to the right is the original photo and above is the photo with the filter Renoir filter applied. What a nice way to make a painting. I hope Renoir would be proud.

Renoir Style
While I was at the Denver Botanical Gardens in September I not only took photos of the Chihuly visit but also shot some of the beautiful flowers. Then I had a new Topaz filter to play with called, "Impressions." The original photo is shown to the left and the photo above is the result of applying a Renoir filter. What a nice way to making a painting. I hope Renoir would be proud.

Never Too Old
My husband and I had our first venture into a corn maze this month which goes to show that you're never too old for a new experience. We went with our grandchildren (not a first for them) and let them choose the path. We found our way out by using the system "keep going left until you have to go right." It was something fun to share with the kids and it was pleasant to be out in the sunshine and fresh air.

Tiny and small and BIG. Oh, my!
We hadn't gone in a few years and the grandkids were still willing so off we went to Lees Farm in Tualatin OR. There seems to be new varieties of pumpkins every year but all that came home with us were the standard, no-wart, orange--except Grandpa's. He is rather fond of the white ones.
With multiple piles and all kinds of shapes, sizes and colors there were enough there for us to choose from. I don't know how other fared but they shouldn't have any any problem finding the perfect one. And did I mention that it was perfect weather? Not a drop of rain.
